ReplyDeleteI believe that teaching is a gift. For me, teaching is so powerful to the extent that even the teacher himself do not know when his influence ends. It is a privilege given to those people who wants to build the youth for the better future than what we have today. It is a profession but a profession with personal touch, if I may say. Teaching is touching lives. To sum up my concept of teaching, if you can read my blog, appreciate your educator, for he/she devoted tons of time and effort on teaching you, basically on how to read, up to this moment to know what’s this all about. for me teaching is a passion and its also a gift from god because its a hard work and in the end you will feel happy that you touch andhelp the pupil or student because they learn many thing from the prof.
ReplyDeleteThis is my reaction about the film "Mona Lisa Smile"
ReplyDeleteThe “Mona Lisa Smile” is a story about a liberal-minded Novice Professor named Katherine Watson (played by Julia Roberts) who lands a job at an all – girl, college called Wellesley. At first the students like Betty (Kirsten Dunst), Giselle (Maggie Gyllenhaal), Joan (Julia Stiles), and Connie (Ginnifer Goodwin) intimidate her, putting her down and criticizing her every move and thought. But this didn’t stop her from teaching her students there right as a women. While struggling in many obstacles that the society throws at her, she never gives up. She strives hard and stand in her owe believes and never afraid to say what her on her mind.
While watching this film, you could see the difference between the women of the 50th’s and the women of today. Women of the 50th’s are highly educated and intellectual like the modern women of today. However there are many difference from the tradition that the women grown up to be in the past. Like for example the way they place their selves in the society and there role in the family. As a wife, she must show herself as a good house wife and to take care of the house and the children while the men are the ones who provides for the family (This example show in the part of the film we’re Betty got married.). But today, women work as equal with men. They work to make a career, and at the same time take care of there families.
“Mona Lisa Smile” is a great reminder of what it was like to live when a woman did not have a voice. However, if this movie were to take place on a campus today, society would not have played a factor in the movie. Both women and men would be equal on campus, and their educations would be held of equal value. In today’s society, it is very important for a female to educate herself and to have a career. We are a feminist society in that all people should be treated equally however; sometime we could all use a Katherine Watson in our lives, as a reminder that women do have a voice and have the power same a men does.
